Zetto's favorite animated films!!!

Movies

I can safely say, that from the beginning of my life, animation always fascinated me. With animation, you can make a character look however you want, and know one could ask you "Dude, why does your character look like that?" But the reason you can make your character look like that, is because its animation, and the fact that you can create some of the weirdest looking people of all time, and pass them off as real people on film, to me is hilarious. And that is one of the many reasons I think that animated motion pictures should have special recognition on my website.

Animation has been going on for nearly a century, and in that time, thousands of animated films have been made. As a life long animated film watcher, is was extremely difficult to edit down a list, but I managed to do it, and here it is.

Toy Story

1. Choosing Toy Story as my favorite animated movie of all time, was definitely not a hard decision. John Lassester's masterpiece is an exciting, funny, riveting story of, you guessed it, toys. The dialogue and the story of the toys living inside a little boys bed room, is extremely well crafted. Randy Newman's score is flawless. And the voice acting by the ensemble cast is grade A! Tom Hanks as Woody gives one of the great voice performances of all time. Tim Allen is also terrific as Buzz Lightyear. In conclusion, Toy Story entertains you, moves you, and also inspires you. If yo haven't seen Disney/Pixar's Toy Story, I have know idea why. It's the greatest animated film of all time, and one of the best movies I've ever seen.

The Incredibles

2. Brad Bird's The Incredibles was not only technilogically groundbreaking, but even more so, it was a great movie. A movie that is primarily based on family, caring, and love. The characters are original and memorable. Bird's screenplay is outstanding. The voice acting from Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jason Lee is fantastic. And The Incredibles is a colorful, and incredibly well detailed movie. Brad Bird, who also directed Ratatouille and The Iron Giant, always knows how to keep you riveted, entertained, and in the end, stunned with pleasure. The Incredibles, is one of the greatest achievements in films, ever.

Tarzan

3. Tarzan is one of the most tearingly heartwarming, beauifully animated, amazingly moving films you'll ever see. There are so many emotional points that it tells; and a few of them are you will always love your family forever, you should not be discriminitive towards those who are different from you, and that your soul mate can come from anywhere. Many parts of this movie will make you want to cry, many parts will make your heart pound, and in the end, you realize that Chris Buck and Kevin Lima's phenomenal Disney feature, Tarzan, is one of the greatest movies you ever saw.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

4. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a film that gives me a lot of inspiration, because it shows me that, if you know in your heart that you really want to do something, and you make an effort, and work and work and work, then you can achieve anything. That's what Walt Disney did with this film. He created a film, with terrific musical number, absolutely gorgeous animation and colors, and a heart warming and unbelievably satisfying film. Most of my appreciation of this film comes from the fact that it literally started it all, but this is a great film, at times, it might be scary for some younger viewers, but I truly recommend it for all ages. It is a pure work of art.

Monsters, Inc

5. Monsters, Inc was Pete Docter's first film as a director. Who knew what to expect. Well, I didn't really expect anything considering the fact that the movie came out when I was three years old, but I'll tell you what, with this film, Pete Docter did the impossible. This film is just delightful to look at, I remember seeing this at the movies when I was three, looking at the amazing animation on the fur of these monsters, each frame is done with such detail. I mean, it was just so amazing to see the fur, each one individually, and the door sequence at the end, I still don't know how they did it. But rather than this being a masterful technical achievement, this is a grand film, instantly, we fall in love with these characters. John Goodman and Billy Crystal are just great as Mike and Sully. But the thing that I loved most about this movie, is that the center of it, was the heart, and this film will drive you to tears. But it will also make you laugh, and, in conclusion, cheer.

7. The Beatles: Yellow Submarine

Yellow Submarine

Creative, imaginative, fantastic, and absolutely dazzling. Yellow Submarine is brought together by terrific, unique animation, and amazing songs by The Beatles themselves.

8. The Iron Giant

The Iron Giant

Top notch in every way! In terms of animation, voice acting, visual effects, moral, story, dialogue, and characters, Brad Bird's The Iron Giant is literally one of the greatest films ever!

9. Up

Uo

Only one word can describe Pete Docter's Up, and that word is, beautiful. With Up, Pixar proves once again that adventure truly is out there.

10. Bambi

Bambi

No other Disney production from this era, made me laugh, cry, or move me as much as Bambi. It's cute, incredible, and unforgettable.

11. Wall-E

Wall-E

Disney/Pixar always has beautiful works of art, but in terms of story, characters, scoring, and detail,Andrew Stanton's Wall-E not only is one of Pixar's grandest pictures, it's one of the all time best animated pictures ever made.

12. The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame is all you can ask for from an animated musical, and more. It's heartwarming, memorable, lovable, terrifically animated, and it's a triumph!

13. Aladdin

Aladdin

Aladdin is one of the most moving Disney films, and one of the best. Alan Menken's score and Stehpen Schwartz's song are great! But the best thing about Aladdin, is Robin Williams stupendous performance as Genie.

14. Lady and the Tramp

The Lady and the Tramp

With Lady and the Tramp, it was the characters that I fell in love with. The animation quality in this film, is I think underrated, yet amazing, but Lady and the Tramp has a sweet feel that can be very inspirational.

15. The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid, I think, has the best use of colors out of all the Disney movies. The new is new and bright. The character design is beautiful. The score and songs are extremely memorable. And the film itself, is sweet as sugar.

16. Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3

Now during Pixar movies, I tend to cry. I just can't help myself. But no Pixar movie made me cry harder than Toy Story 3. Seeing the characters I love for the last time on screen is all I could ask for, and director Lee Unkrich, delivers satisfaction to infinity, and beyond.

17. Pinocchio

Pinocchio

Hardly is there a Disney movie, that is genuinely as sad, cheerful, eye popping, and wooden as Pinocchio. The songs are the feel of the movie, and the feel, is warmth.

18. Ratatouille

Ratatouille

In Brad Bird's Ratatouille, everything is done flawlessly. It's one of the greatest screenplays ever written, balanced with very affectively done animation, and a score by Michael Giacchino that you can't get enough of.

19. Shrek

Shrek

When you compare Dreamworks to Pixar, you already know, there is no comparison. But Shrek is another story. Shrek is Dreamworks' masterpiece, and i happily can compare it to Pixar quality.

20. Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo

Andrew Stanton's Finding Nemo is a roller coaster ride of a film. It's hilarious, fun, and exciting throughout. But, you can not misjudge the tears that will be pouring out your eyes at the end.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

I would've added Robert Zemckis's Who Framed Roger Rabbit in the top 10 somewhere, but since it's not exactly an animated film I wasn't sure if that was legal or not.
